Amazing Siam: 2017

This time we flew back with Cathay Pacific via Hongkong - a piece of cake!
Diesmal sind wir mit Cathay Pacific zurück geflogen - ein Zuckerschlecken.

Shortly after our arrival we got a new kitchen floor - well and once the workers were there we decided to do the bathrooms too.

Nach 3 Wochen haben wir uns entschieden die Küche und das Gäste WC neu fliesen zu lassen. Ausserdem zwie Bäder. Schön ists geworden.

Another tour: Jen and I visited the The Hell in Sansai joined by Simone thereafter...

Then we met Simone at Wat Ra Dara Pirom in Mae Rim.

Wat Darapirom was built in the late 19th century by princess Dararasmee.

Daarapirom Palace - just around the corner. Princess Dararasmee, a favourite consort of King Chualangkorn (RamaV) She was an offspring of a Chiang Mai prince. And after the death of King Rama V, she relocated to Chiang Mai, her palace was built in 1914, where she lived until she died in 1933. She did a lot for the Lanna population, promoted Buddhism and was interested in agricultural studies and was an admirer and sponsor of fine arts.

Daarapirom Palace - gleich um die Ecke. Princess Dararasmee, eine Lieblingskonsorte Rama V kam aus der königsdynastie Lanna. Nach dem Tod von König Rama V durfte Sie nach chianMai zurückkehren und lebte von 1914 bis 1933 in eigens für Sie gebauten Palast. Sie hat viel für die Lanna Bevölkerung getan, hat den Buddhismus unterstützt und die schönen Künste gesponsort.

Und hier ein weiteres Highlight, am Bai Fern Coffee haben wir uns getroffen, bevor es wietergeht zur Tempel Tour ...

Wat Inthakin. Der Temple, der 1296 erbaut wurde, hielt bis 1800 auch die Relique der Stadt unter Beschluss. Danach wurde Sie verlegt. in den Wat Chedi Luang. Der Wat ist ein schönes Beispiel an Lanna Kultur und Handwerk.

A week later everydody went on holiday - so it was me and Simone with the great company of Basil who went out headind to Saraphi - Shopping in Bosang first, then lunch at Nasi Chumpur...
Mit Simone und Basil nach Saraphi und dann ein feines Lunch im Nasi Chumphru. Bevor wir noch einen Tempel entdeckten.

Just like magic our gate opened around 7 p.m every night and our table was covered with finest Thai food - thanks Harin and Ning for taking such good care of us.

Reddie is back on track - Yogort took her for a spin to Phayao with Steff - and as predicted they got wet!

Basil stayed with us for a couple of day - we loved having him - and will be proud to host hin whenever you need us... xxx

In der CMIS der Schinag Mai International School haben wir die Aufführung von Thornton wilder `The Importance of Being Earnest`angeschaut - absolut super bravo Katlyn!

Todays Temple Tour led us to Chiang Mai City

First stop Wat Lokj Moli, an ancient temple from the 14th century.

Erster Halt Wat Lok Moli, ein Tempel aus dem 14. Jhd.

Wat Khuan Khama just opposite is a newer temple with beautiful ornaments and very typical Lanna architecture.

Der Wat Khuan Khma auf der anderen Seite der Strasse ist bedeutend jünger und weist schöne Lanna Architektur auf.

Wiang Kham Khum - The sunken City

This place was supposed to be the capitoll of the lLanna Kingdom and founded by king Mengrai in 1288 after several floods and due to the low elevation of the land, he abandonned the city and built the new capoitol oin the other side on the banks of the River Ping. In 1984 archeologists found by chance inscripts and ancient material and started to dig out the treasure of the sunken city. Today it is surrounded by family houses and the ruins stand amidst the every day Thai life.

For lunch we discovered th Rice Barn retaurant with Lanna Food at its best!

My last day in Doi Saket, before leaving for 6 weeks to Europe. We took the scotter to the dam and went up to this lovely temple I have never been to before yet cycled around it many times.
