Visiting Michael and Phon - or how to get to Om Kut with taking a detour of 400K...

In January we decided to visit Michael and Phon in Om Kut, not too far from Doi Saket, about 100K. Om Kut is a small village  30 K off Hot- so they said.... We took the Kawasaki 650  and off we went. However just afer the city of  Hot, we missed a turn and found ourselves in Mae Sariang... At this stage Yogurt, 80 kms off target, decided to rather go to Mae Hong Son, another 280 kilometers farther instead of going back.. So we spent the night in Mae Hong Son and went back to Om Kut the next day... Sorry for the delay!

Zu Besuch bei Michael and Phon - oder wie man mit einem 400 KM Umweg nach Om Kut gelangt....

Im Januar haben wir uns spontan entschlossen, Michael und Phon zu besuchen, die Beiden wohnen in Om Kut, 30 km von der Stadt Hot entfernt und ca. 100 km von Doi Saket. In Hot haben wir eine Abzweigung verpasst und landetetn in Mae Sariang, 80 km weiter. Yogurt wollte dann nicht mehr umdrehen, stattdessen ist er 300 km weiter nach Mae Hong Sonm gefahren. Nach einer Uebernachtung sind wir am naechsten Tag ueber Mae Cahm nach Om Kut. Die Strasse war furchtbar, nur Schlagloecher und zu guter Letzt haben die Bauern auch schon angefangen zu brennen, so dass die Luft rauchgeschwaengert und diesig war.

The road via Mae Chaen to Om Kut was horrible, one pothole after the next and the farmers have already started burning, at times we were completely covered in smoke - awful.. we finally made it to Om Kut and were warmly welcomed by Michael Phon and David, their friend from the States. Phon spoiled us with a lovely dinner consisting of Larb Gai and Massaman Curry as well as Wontons....Yummie..I am not talking about the great noodle soup in the morning - Lutz you would have loved that one, and declared it the best noodle soup ever!  :-)

 Entschaedigt wurden wir fuer die Strapazen von Michael and Phon - danke fuer den schoenen Abend und die Gastfreundschaft - Fein gekocht, Phon. Mit viel Liebe hat sie ein  Larb gemacht, einen Salat bestehend aus Gehacktem mit Minze, Zitrone, Limonengras und gestossenemen Reis. Ebenso das Massaman Curry war sehr fein, ganz zu schweigen von der Nudelsuppe mit hausgemachten Wontons am anderen Morgen - Lutz , das waere etwas fuer dich gewesen!!!!

Hello 2014!!! - Sandra´s Birthday

Both being down with the flu we welcomed the new year calmly- just the two of us....
Feeling fit enough we went to do our visa run and combined it with my  Birthday Treat  - 2 nights at   Katiliya Mountain Resort, Mae Chan, Chiang Rai . A beautiful 100 sqm suite awaited us with a private terrace overlooking the mountains....A bottle of champagne and a birthday cake were part of the package... yeah. Pretty cold night-time - around 8 C°...the temperature rose to the mid twenties during the day and even allowed a dip in the pool. We enjoyed the peace and tranquillity. Thanks Yogurt for the nice Birthday!

Den Sylvester Abend verbrachten wir ganz gemütlich zu zweit, noch immer angeschlagen von der Grippe.
Am 7. Januar waren wir wieder fit und haben meinen Geburtstags Ausflug mit dem 90-tätigen Visa Run verbunden. Wir fuhren ins Katiliya Mountain Resort in Mae Chan, Chiang Rai Provinz, für zwei Nächte. Das Package beinhaltete eine 100 m ² Suite, eine Flasche Sekt und einen Geburtstagskuchen. Es war einfach klasse. Relativ kalt nachts mit nur 8 Grad dafuer erreichen die Temperaturen 28 Grad untertags uns liessen  sogar ein kurzes Bad im Pool zu...
Danke Yogurt für den schönen Geburtstag.

December 2013 in Doi Saket

Danny called us and wanted us to be Extras in the Hollywood Movie The Coup - starring Pierce Brosnan, Lake Bell and Owen Wilson. On December 17th the shooting took place at the 700 year stadium. we arrived there at 6.00 am.
Danny rief uns an und bat uns als Statisten beim Hollywood Fil the Coup mitzumachen  mit Pierce Brosnan, Owen Wilson und Lake Bell. Am 17. Dezember war es soweit. Um 6.00 trafen wir am 700 Jahr Sport Complex zu den Dreharbeiten ein.

And then it was time to say Happy Christmas....
Und nun ist es auch schon an der Zeit euch allen schpene Festtage zu wuenschen..

We spent a nice and quiet romantic x-mas eve at home...Wir haben Weihnachten ganz gemuetlich daheim verbracht

However the next day I had to deal with 40° temperature and Yogurt had to takle me to the hospital two days later - diagnosis - FLU! Cannot do much about it - rest rest rest...
Thus New Year´s Eve was quiet as well. - Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

Am naechsten Tag hat es mir die Fuesse weggezogen und ich lag mit 40 Fieber im Bett - Grippe..... Tja, da wurde Bettruhe verordnet und viel viel Schlaf...
Entsprechend ruhig viel Sylvester aus - Euch allen ein Gutes und Gesundes Neues Jahr!!!!
