Tilly in Thailand Bangkok

Am 8. December 2008 bin ich mit meiner Mami nach Thailand geflogen und wir haben erst 2 Tage in Bangkok verbracht Unser Hotel in der Rambuttri Road, Naehe Khaosoan Road, war sehr zentral gelegen, so dass wir alles per Xpress Boat machen konnten, unter anderem die Besichtigung des Koenigstempels, Wat Po, Vianmek Mansion und auch ein Fruehstueck im Oriental am Chayo Praya haben wir uns nicht entgehen lassen.

On December 8th I came back to Thailand with Tilly. We first stayed in Bangkok for 2 days. By staying at the Hotel on Rambuttri Road, close to Khao San Road, we had the chance to explore the city by Xpress Boat and we visited the Royal Palace and Temple, Wat Po, Vianmek Mansion and we also enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the Oriental at Chao Praya River.

Xmas in Aonang

Am 11. December hat Juergen uns vom Krabi Airport abgeholt und Tilly hat sich gut in Aonang, resp. Noppharat Beach eingelebt. Weihnachten haben wir ganz gemuetlich in unserem kleinen Bungalow verbracht, man beachte den Weihnachtsbaum, unsere Bougainville musste herhalten.
Am 26. Dezember sind wir dann in unsere neues Haus gezuegelt, nun haben wir endich Platz. Juergen hat viele Nerven verloren, waehrend ich in Deutschland war, aber jetzt passt alles, ist wirklich super schoen geworden. Danke an Rich, der beim Zuegeln geholfen hat, ganz ganz lieben Dank an unsere liebe Asha, die bei der Uebersetzung und der Durchfuehrung mitgewirkt hat.

Yogurt picked us up at the Airport on December 11th and Tilly settled in very well at Nopparath Beach. We have had a very nice and quiet time and spent Christmas at our small bungalow. On December 26th we moved to our new house, thanks Rich for helping and many thanks to Asha who has helped with the translation and made many alterations possible with her support. Yogurt went nuts while I was in Germany with all the workers and crazy Thai ideas, but in the end it turned out lovely.

Am 30 Dezember kam Hanky aus Khaolak und wir haben seinen Geburtstag mit Lecky am Noppharat Beach gefeiert. Danach hatten wir einen ruhigen Sylvesterabend mit tilly in unserem neuen Haus.

On December 30th Hanky came down from Khaolak with his family to celebrate his Birthday at Lecky’s Place on Noppharat. The day after we had a nice and quiet New Years eve at our new house.

Tilly in Thailand/ Sandras Birthday

Zu meinem Geburtstag waren wir in Phuket und haben bei Jens uebernachtet. Wir hatten eine super schoene Zeit mit Axel und Melli und Laura in "Lady Bobby's Restaurant" Danke euch, fuer die schoene Party. Meine schoenste Geburtstagsueberraschung war, dass Tilly ihre Ferien verlaengert hat.

For my Birthday we went to Phuket and stayed and Jens’. We had such a jolly time with Axel, Melli and Laura and Bow’s parents, the Lady Bobby Restaurant at Maikhau. Thanks for the lovely party. My best Birthday present was Mum’s decision to extend her stay by 2 weeks!!!!

Tilly in Thailand / Khaolak

Nach Phuket sind wir weiter nach Khaolak gefahren und haben Hanky und Laddawan besucht. Die guten Tiger Prawns im Aowthong Seafood sind auch unvergesslich. Und die schoenen Sonnenuntergaenge am Ban Sak.
Ist der Ferry Service auf den Styropor Boxen nicht klasse?
From Phuket we went on to Khaolak to visit Hanky and Laddawan, went around the beaches and had a great time there. Please note the Ferry service!!!! We will never forget the lovely Tiger Prawns at Aowthong Seafood. And the beautiful sunsets at Ban Sak Beach North of Khaolak.

Von dort ging es dann weiter nach Ranong und zum Visa Run nach Burma

From there we went on to Burma and Ranong.

Tilly in Thailand / Ko Samui

Nachdem wir in Burma waren und den Visa run gemacht haben, sind wir auf dem Rueckweg noch nach Ko Samui gefahren Juergen hat die Rally Paris Dakkar in die Rally Ranong Don Sak umgewandelt.

Jedenfalls hatten wir zwar sehr schlechtes Wetter, aber trotzdem eine schoene Zeit auf Samui, wir sind 2 Naechte geblieben, sind um die ganze Insel gefahren und die Straende, besonders am Mae Nam, waren fast nicht vorhanden aufgrund der hohen Wellen.

On we went to Burma to do our Visa Run, we then decided to go to Ko Samui on our way back. We underestimated the mileage and Yogurt invented the Rally Paris Dakar in Thailand.
The weather on Samui was dreadful and cold. The beach at Maenam was almost non existent due to the high tides. Anyhow we enjoyed our stay there. We went around the Island, visited friends and left after 2 nights.

Tilly in Thailand/Longtail boat Trip

Nach unserer Rueckkehr nach Aonang, war es an der Zeit Doris und Guenther vom Flughafen abzuholen. Wir hatten eine schoene Zeit zusammen. Einen Tag haben wir einen Ausflug mit dem Longtail Boat nach Ko Boda und Chicken Island gemacht. Ist es nicht erstaunlich, dass Thais es fertig bringen eine komplette Kueche auf einem Longtail Boat zu haben? Ausserdem ist es doch nett, dass auf Chicken Island eine Gans, (Juergens neue Freundin) lebt, oder?

After coming back to Aonang it was time to pick Doris and Guenther up from the Airport. We had a great time together. One day we did a trip on a longtail boat to Ko Boda and Chicken Island. Isn’t it amazing how Thais can improvise, having a fuly equipped kitchen on a boat….? Let alone Yogurt's new friend the goose on Chicken Island (Ko Gai).

Tilly in Thailand/ Penang, Malaysia

Nachdem Tilly sich entschieden hat, nochmals ihren Aufenthalt zu verlaengern, mussten wir noch einmal einen Visa run machen. Diesmal haben wir uns entschieden nach Malaysien zu fahren, nach Georgetown auf der Insel Penang. 7 Stunden spaeter sind wir von Aonang in Penang angekommen, ueber die laengste Bruecke Asiens gefahren und waren ganz ueberrascht von der Perfektion Malaysiens und den vielen Wolkenkratzern, die aus dem Himmel ragen. Ausserdem hat uns der Kulturschmelztigel Penangs sehr fasziniert. Leider war es Chinese New Zear und die meisten Laeden und Museen waren geschlossen. Trotzdem hat es uns sehr gut gefallen. Die tanzenden Drachen auch dem Nacht Markt, die excklusiven Shopping Malls, auch wenn wir nur Fenster Shopping gemacht haben und die Spaziergaenge durch China Town, Littel India und den kolonialen Teil der Stadt. Natuerlich durfte auch der obligatorische Kaffe im Eastern Oriental nicht fehlen.

Then Tilly decided to stay another 2 weeks, which meant we had to do a Visa Run again. Where to go this time? Well, we decided to go to Georgetown, on the island of Penang in Malaysia. 7 hours later, after we have crossed the longest bridge in Asia, we arrived there and we were taken aback by such a perfection, so many skyscrapers and the melting pot culture of Penang. Shamefully it was Chinese New Year so most of the shops and Museums were closed, but still we enjoyed it a lot. We saw “dancing dragons” at the Night Plaza, very modern and exclusive shopping Malls (just for window shopping!!!), had a stroll through little India, China town and the Colonial City. And of course we had the "mandatory" coffee at the Eastern Oriental.

Tilly in Thailand Songkhla

Auf dem Rueckweg von Penang waren wir noch 2 Tage in Songkhla. Blick vom Affenfelsen und Tempel auf die Stadt und das Lap thalee, Thailand groessten Binnensee.

On our way back to Thailand we spent 2 nights at Songkhla and then went back to Aonang. The Monkey Mountain and the Temple on top of the hill with a lovely view over the city and Lap Thalee the biggest lake in Thailand.
