Back in Thailand

Nach unserem Malaysia Trip sind wir nun wieder daheim. Es waren aber doch immerhin 2800 km... Malaysia ist einfach ein Mini Europa, wir haben es, wie immer, sehr genossen.
Walter und Helga kamen noch mit Luna zum Kurzbesuch zu uns und jetzt geniessen wir noch die Zeit hier in der low season bevor auch wir wieder Richtung Europa fliegen...
Now we are back home after our trip to Malaysia. However we drove 2800 km...We always love being there as it feels like being in a European country...
Walter , Helga and Luna just visited us for 2 days upon our return. Now we enjoy the low and hopefully rainy season before we take off to Europe end of June.

Cameron Highlands

Nach 2 Tagen in Alor Setar haben wir uns auf den Weg in die Cameron Highlands gemacht. Wunderschoene Landschaft auf 1600 meter Hoehe, nur leider viel von der Natur zerstoert, durch Gemuese Anbau. Die beiden Hauptorte, haben auch nicht wirklich viel zu bieten, doch ist das Klima einfach schoen, bei 25 Grad am Tag und nur 16 Grad in der Nacht kann man herrliche Wanderungen unternehmen und den Besuch der teeplantagen geniessen.









After 2 nights in Alor Setar we went further South to the Cameron Highlands. Wow, they have really built a highway through the montains. Yogurt loved each and every bend....:-)). it was sad to see a lot of fruit and vegetable farms built up there in the jungle....the two main villages are nothing to write home about either, but the climate was just nice and cool, only 16 degrees in the night time and about 25 throughout the day. This weather is just made for hiking and visiting the tea plantations.

Von Samui ging es dann weiter zum Visa Run nach Malaysia. Diesmal verbrachten wir zunaeachst 2 Tage in Alor Setar. Eine gemuetliche Stadt ca, 40 km suedlich der Grenze zu Thailand, hier legen auch die Faehren nach Langkawi ab. In unserer Garkueche bei Mama Lee gab es feines Essen, der Papa hat schier im Akkord gekocht. Und ich war auch oben auf dem Menara Alor Setar,lediglich 180 meter hoch, aber immerhin. Die Zahir Moschee gilt als eine der schoensten Moscheen Malaysiens, daneben der Uhr Turm, der von der britischen Kolonialzeit herruehrt, so auch das Fort in Kota Kadah, dem Hafen von Alor Setar.








From Samui we went straight to Malaysia, and stayed in Alor Setar for 2 nights, a lovely malaysian city with a lot of Chinese influence about 40 km South of the Border to Thailand. The Zahir Mosque is one of Malaysia's most beautifule mosques. We enjoyed lovely dinners at Mama Lees Restaurant, we have never seen anybody preparing dishes as fast as Papa did... We have been up the Alor Setar Menara, even though it is only 180 meters the view was fantastic. And went out to Kota Kedah, the old Fort of Alor Setar, where the ferries leave to Langkawi

On April 12th we met Sylvia and Myrtle on Ko Samui and we had a great time at Maenam Beacht at Tuang Song Bungalows, we went around the island, all the way up to the Jungle Club and enjoyed sunset at lonely beaches - yes, there are some still to be explored. And then it was time to say good-bye to Sylvia, our dear friend, who flew back to the States...Can't wait for her to be back!

Am 12. April sind wir nach Ko Samui gefahren und haben 4 super schoene Tage mit Sylvia und Myrtle verbracht. Maenam ist einfach immer wieder schoen. Wir sind rund um die Insel gefahren und waren natuerlich auch oben im Jungle Club. Auch haben wir Sonnenuntergaenge an einsamen Buchten erlebt, man glaubt es nicht, aber es gibt auch die noch auf Ko Samui. Und leider mussten wir uns von Szlvia, unserer lieben Freundin verabschieden, die wieder retour nach USA eflogen ist, wir freuen uns schon jetzt, wenn sie wieder kommt.



Just like Brother and Sister...
