Far too short we took Benji Nee and Mukda to the Airport the next day....

As time is flying we then concentrated on research before heading for Europe on July 12th.

Wualai Quarter and its two silver temples. Both of them date back to the 12th century, however the silver ornaments have been put on later under King Kawila around 1800.

Jan´s Baby came back from Bangkok :-)

Sunday afternoon out with Beetie  - Had Buak Park at the south West Corner of the old city

I could not believe they have painted eucalyptus there, the last ones I saw on the road to Hana on Kauai,  Hawaii.
Chinese Temple often walked past, never realised it was there

One of the most beautiful resorts in town The Tamarind Village

 Classic: Wat Phra Singh.

Sunday Walking Street

 Fashion for dogs

This time we visited the Hilltribe Musseum - a place worth visiting close to the 700 year stadium, not only do they exhibit the history and cuiltural artefacts of the various hilltribes, also their houses are on disply in the outside part of the exhibition. Entrance is free - aa small donation appreciated

Up we went to a mountain close to the Grand Canyon Chiang Mai, Phusifann Restaurant - nice view good coffee, food looked excelelnt, too...

On the way back to the city we found this exceptionally beautiful temple along the 121 Road.

Yet not enough temples, we went to Wat Inthakin. a wooden Wat built in the typical Lanna way, this one was built in 1856

Resarching Doi suthep area with Beetie

Huay Kaeu Arboretum.. a nice small park with beautiful trees. Some of them have signs with their age - they are even given names - a nice place if you are looking for a shady place in the city.

From there we went up to Wat Palat a beautiful temple hidden in the forrest with a waterfall running through.

Beetie has a long conversation with the temple´s peacock

Further up a tree blocked the road and it became more and more foggy and started to pour down on us whilst we have been up on the top at Phuping Palace...
Down on huay Kaew Road we found this cool clothes store.

We went to visit the house of the 100 doors ....with the world´s largest Wooden Ganesha statue in front. The inside has more than hundred doors that are and still waiting to be painted by artists - an amazing place to visit.

We called it a day at Galea Cafe

Another research trip to Maerim took us to eleohant Poo Poo Paper a place where shit is turned into paper :-) Quite interesting. We even made our own piece of paper.

After that we went to the Erotic Garden Chiang Mai and had a long guided tour with Khun Kattika, the owner of Erotic Garden and Tea House. She introduced us to the erotic of nature..

The last research day befor Europe: Beetie and I went to Lamphun, the old Kingdom of Haripunchai.

Railway Station

Wat Ku Chang. As legend has it the remains of the famous elephant of Queen Cham Dhevi are located in the Chedis. They are said to be the remains of an old temple when the city was built back in the 7th century.

The main temple Wat Hariounchai - is a beautiful temple dating back to the Mon era .

Actually the mould is like a mini-Chiang Mai, very laid back atmosphere in Lamphun.

On the way back we found this small weaving village close to Banthi...
