Researching Chiang Mai - March

I finally got the contract for the North Thailand Travel Guide Book.

Let the research begin:

Day Out with Simone. Wat Ched Yod and Chiang Mai National Museum - the air that day was really bad - filled with smog :-(

Wat Ched Yot - meaning seven spires - was built in 1455 by King Tilokarat of Chiang Mai. It is a replica of the Indian temple Bodh Gaya, where Buddha was enlightened.
The temple is really different from the others in Chiang Mai and the Indian/BUrmese influence can clearly be seen.

The National Museum of Chiang Mai is worth a visit - all displays are described in English, too.

Whilst Beetie was in Khaolak, the three of us went to see Wat Suan Dok, which was bulit in 1470 by the King of Chiang Mai. The mausoleum holds the ashes of the former kings of Chiang Mai.

We then paid Wat Umong a visit - which is worth coming back after rainy season...

The temple was built in the 13th century. There are caves that monks used for meditation and it is the setting that makes it unique - amidst the forrest at the foot of Doi Suthep. Feed fish at the pond and obsserve the million pigeons that inhabit the temple.

Wat Umong, der Tunneltempel im Wald. Wahrscheinlichim 13.

Lunch at Ginger Farm

A few days later Jen and I finished the research on Nimman - wonderful job - thanks a mill Jen.
And met Simone and Natalia at the Ristr8tto, a coffee shop with a world known Barrister.

Lunch @ Ginger Farm

After lunch at Ginger Farm we had some time to research Wat Ket area , down by the river...
