Lynn - February 3rd - 17th 2012

Just on time for Yogurt's Birthday Lynn arrived from Krabi - as we supposed to leave to Phuket for some research on February 8th, Lynn offered to house- and cat-sit.....
Puenkltlich zu Juergens Geburi flog Lynn ein, sie sollte eigentlich Haus und Katzen hueten, waehrend Juergen und ich zur Recherche nach Phuket fliegen sollten.

On Yogurt's Birthday we went to the temple of Good Luck with Jaeb before having dinner in the rice fields

Juergens Geburtstag fing mit einem Tempel Gang zusammen mit Jaeb an und am Abend gingen wir in die Reisfelder zum Feiern.

On Monday February 6th, we went to the Royal Flora, Southeast Asia's Biggest Flower Exhibition, this is when shit hit the fan....I wanted to get off an electric trolley when the car started to move. upon my landing on the pavement I heard a horrible sound in my calf - outch!!! Diagnosis tendon torn! Indication - 6 weeks on crutches!!!! Positive aspect - as long as you do not put weight on it is not painful.

Am Montag, dem 6. Februar ging es dann zur Royal Flora, der groessten Garten Ausstellung in Suedostasien. Tja und dann sprang ich von einem Elektro Karren als dieser gerade anfang und hoerte einen furchtbaren Knall in der Wade....outsch - Diagnose: Sehne in der Wade gerissen, Therapie 6 Wochen Kruecken!!!Positiver Aspekt - es schmerzt nicht, wenn ich nicht belaste.

A couple of days later we went with Tiou and Bernard to the National Park in the mountains and spend the afternoon at Tharanthon Lodge

Trotzdem fuhren wir ein paar Tage spaeter mit Bernard und Tiou in die Berge zur Thanathorn Lodge und verbrachten einen super Nachmittag. 

Nurse Lynn and Doc Yogurt did a great job. The trip to South Thailand needed to be cancelled and Lynn flew back to Krabi on February 17th.

Unsere Fluege haben wir bis auf weiteres annuliert und Lynn flog am 17. Februar wieder nach Krabi...

January 25th - 31st 2012 - Thomas

Jeehaw - Whitie has arrived.... Kawasaki 650 EN - and of course we went to Doi Saket Temple first for the bike to be blessed.
Endlich war Whitie dann auch da - Kawasaki 650 en - und der erste Weg fuehrte zum Tempel, um das Toeff segnen zu lassen

Thomas and I have been sending e mails back and fro after Richard has given me his contact details regarding some research in Northern Thailand. As luck had it, Thomas spent part of his annual leave in North East Thailand and was on his way back to Bangkok when he asked if it wouldn't be convenient if we met. So we met a Pen's Bar the first night and got along so well with each other. So we just offered Thomas to stay as long as he wanted. As he was travelling with his Pick-up Truck and his 250 Honda CBX, we did some great rides on the bikes. Again we started with the Samoeng Loop - from Mae Rim to Haeng Dong.

Dann kam Thomas....Thomas? Ja, wir kannten uns eigentlich nur per Mail, durch Richard, der uns zweckes Recherche von Nord Thailand zusammengebracht hat. Nachdem Thomas dann auf dem Rueckweg von Nordost Thailand nach Bangkok war, bot es sich an, dass wir uns persoenlich kennenlernten. Und die Chemie passte auf Anhieb, so dass Thomas eine Woche bei uns verbrachte. Da er mit Truck und Toeff unterwegs war, unternehman wir tolle Touren in der Woche. Am ersten Tag mal wieder die Samoeng Schleife - on Mae Rim nach Haeng Dong.

Another lovely ride took us from doi Saket via Phrao and from there we cut through the mountains to Wiang Pa Phao. A beautiful ride through the midle of nowhere. On top of the mountains a small village called Patung, where we stopped for water and locals offered us fruits. From there again Sout on H118 to Doi Saket. A great 300 km ride.
Ein anderer Tagesausflug fuehrte uns von Doi Saket ueber Phrao wieder durch die Berge retour nach Wiang Pa Phao. Auf dieser Strasse gibt es nur ein kleines Bergdorf im Niemandslandb is die Strasse nach 80 km dann wieder auf den H118 fuehrt. Ein toller 300 km Ausflug!

And our tours were followed by BBQs or Moo Gata - Korean BBQ in the garden watching the sun set.

Nach den Touren verbtrachten wir die Abende gemuetlich im Garten mit Grillieren oder auch Korean BBQ.

The last evening the rice field restaurant was open and we watched a beautiful sunset....

The next mornng it was time to say goodbye - Great to have people coming as strangers and leaving as friends - see you in Germany, Thomas!!!!

Der letzte Abend in demn Reisfeldern zum Sonnenuntergang, am naechsten Morgen hiess es dann Abschied nehmen! Bis in Deutschland, Thomas!  Und wieder einmal eine tolle Erfahrung, wenn Menschen als Fremde kommen und als Freunde gehen.
